do you hear me today?;)

I consider effective communication and how to make it better every day.

I've observed that many people don't even pay attention to what you have to say.

One of your friends called and asked, "Do we go to the cinema on Friday?" Even your friends forgot that you had told them you were going to the swimming pool on Friday.

Alright, we can't recall everything.

However, what distinguishes LISTENING from HEARING something?

Active listening involves paying attention to what someone is saying as well as their feelings and ideas. It transforms a dialogue into a dynamic exchange, and this exchange is happening now.

Imagine that you are at the railway station, on platform 2 and your interlocutor is on platform 3 while you both are waiting for the train. You can't hear each other as they talk about their own things, so this is not dialogue, but monologue - one sided conversation.

In communication, this occurs frequently. The difference is that people are not on different binaries, but in front of each other.

Also, your own thoughts or emotions can distract you. Try to bring your attention back, just repeating : Right now, I'm here.”
