multitasking good, multitasking bad?

Updated: Mar 26, 2025

What do you think about your multitasking skills?

Is this something that can help you on daily basis?

Is this something that is helping you, or does it cause a lot of stress?

Constantly switching from one task to another, ten times per day , doesn't seem to be beneficial for our brain and our job.

There is a concept, called "context switching" - every time you switch the context , your brain switches as well, and needs time to catch up with the next task properly.

I thought I was excellent in multitasking! But then I realised the lack of focus that affects my quality of work.

If you want do it good - do one thing at a time.

Don't multitask too much! I know, maybe there are different requests are on the way.

It's may be a good idea to try to set priorities and say no when is really necessary.

I feel you - how to say no, if you have a lot of high priorities?

Try to think when you were a kid and you wanted to eat different things at the same time - ice cream, french fries, candies and probably mustard (this was my case :D) . You were asked by your parents to decide for only one thing , because it was better for your stomach.

Now you need to decide yourself - it will be beneficial for your brain and stomach, because the stress cumulates there and won't help you at all ..
