autumn focus

There is something so relaxing about the sea in autumn. It is one of the secrets to finding inner harmony and clearing your mind while looking for new opportunities.

And let's be honest ; looking for a job has become a kind of ten-step challenge.

Everything seems to be something that could count against us on our CV : our experience, our lack of experience, or even our honest reflections on past rejections, especially when we have been looking for a job for months.

In these situations, recruiters may ask: Why did you leave your previous job? How come you have a four-month gap in your CV?

Well... We are human beings. We do not control the job market. We all have different stories, and that does not mean we are not professional.

I believe we need more empathy nowadays, just to be able to breathe.

That is why it is so important to find something that helps us feel better, relax, and disconnect from our screens.

It could be a book.

A book? Nobody has time for books these days!

My question is: Why? Why not books?

Reading helps redirect your attention in one direction. Unlike reels on social media, you cannot simply switch to something else every few seconds. You have to stay, make an effort to focus, and open your imagination to what a story has to offer, especially when we are talking about fiction.

There are also reportage, non-fiction, and journalism - so many ways to explore the world through words.

How relaxing it can be to read without being distracted by the noise of social media and the constant stream of completely different messages scrolling across our screens.

Reading requires perseverance and patience, but it is worth it.

There is something relaxing about the sea in autumn, about books, and about meeting people.

The Pisa Book Festival was something truly precious to me. From AI to art and architecture, there were so many fascinating topics to explore.

But what mattered just as much were the real-life encounters - meeting and talking to real people.

That is what makes a difference.
